Starting today, you can begin to create an education savings plan by deciding what college means to you so before you meet with your advisor, consider the following:

Personal details - the student's age,  whether they will go to a two-year college or a four year college, if they are planning on getting an associates degree, bachelors degree or higher

Your current financial situation - get an accurate picture of where you are today.  Include your debts, savings, and expenses.

Your college choices - which college is your child planning on attending, will he/she be attending a public school or private school, is that college in-state or out-of-state, and how much tuition will cost?
